The development of the new edition of the international standard ISO 9001:2026 is in its final stages. Currently, the ISO/DIS 9001:2025 (Draft International Standard) is in circulation, and below we provide the key information regarding the progress of the process to date. We will continue to keep you regularly informed of all future developments.
In recent weeks, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), together with Technical Committee TC176, Subcommittee SC2 (responsible for the development and revision of the standard), and Working Group WG29, has been working intensively to process comments from national committees on the previous version of the document (CD2). The revised proposals have now been integrated into the draft international standard ISO/DIS 9001:2025, which precedes the final draft (ISO/FDIS 9001:2026).
The official translation process of the draft standard (DIS) into ISO’s official languages is currently underway, with translations expected to be finalised by early September 2025.
The planned evaluation period will last approximately three months. During this period, all interested parties have the opportunity to submit comments on the proposed text. Collected comments from around the world will be reviewed again during the next international meeting, expected at the beginning of 2026. Based on this, the final draft international standard (FDIS) will be prepared, representing the last stage before the publication of the revised ISO 9001:2026 standard.
Detailed information on the content of the DIS is currently classified as confidential until officially released to national standardisation bodies.
As soon as this is permitted, the Institute for Certification of Systems (ICS) will promptly inform you of all important updates. Stay informed – follow us for the latest information on the ISO 9001 standard revision!
