The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has advanced the revision process of the ISO 9001 standard to the next stage of approval of the Final Draft International Standard (FDIS).
The project has now officially entered stage 50.20, following its previous 50.00 status, marking an important step towards the publication of the new version of one of the world’s most widely adopted quality management system standards.
The project has now officially entered stage 50.20, following its previous 50.00 status, marking an important step towards the publication of the new version of one of the world’s most widely adopted quality management system standards.
ISO 9001 represents a globally recognised framework for establishing, maintaining, and continually improving quality management systems. The revision aims to address modern business challenges, digital transformation, risk management, sustainability, and the increasing expectations of interested parties.
The FDIS stage represents the final step prior to the official publication of the standard. During this period, national standardisation bodies are given the opportunity to vote on the final text of the document, after which the updated version of the standard may be published if the draft is approved.
Organisations currently implementing ISO 9001 are encouraged to follow the progress of the revision process closely in order to prepare in a timely manner for any potential changes to the requirements and the transition period that will follow the publication of the revised standard.
ICS will continue to monitor all relevant developments and provide timely updates to clients and partners regarding further steps and expected changes related to the ISO 9001 standard.
