The new edition of the world’s most widely recognised international standard for quality management systems, ISO 9001:2026, has successfully passed the final stage of the international approval process.

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has granted final approval to the Final Draft International Standard (FDIS), receiving exceptionally strong support from national standards bodies worldwide. This milestone paves the way for the official publication of the revised standard, which is expected in September 2026.

ISO 9001 represents the most widely implemented international standard for quality management, adopted by more than one million organisations worldwide, regardless of their size or sector of activity. The new edition introduces improvements designed to enable organisations to respond more effectively to contemporary business challenges, including digital transformation, the application of artificial intelligence, change management, organisational resilience, sustainability, and increasing expectations of interested parties.

While the fundamental principles of quality management remain unchanged, the revised standard places greater emphasis on:
  • management of organisational risks and opportunities,
  • organisational resilience and business continuity,
  • digitalisation of business processes,
  • responsible use of artificial intelligence,
  • knowledge management and organisational learning,
  • strengthening the focus on interested parties and value creation.
Organisations certified according to ISO 9001:2015 are encouraged to begin reviewing the anticipated changes and planning their transition activities towards the new edition of the standard. Early preparation will enable a smoother implementation of the revised requirements and support the preservation of competitiveness in the marketplace.

ICS Ltd
will, immediately following the official publication of the standard, organise professional seminars, workshops and training programmes dedicated to the requirements of ISO 9001:2026. In addition, ICS will provide expert support to organisations throughout the transition process and in adapting their quality management systems to the new requirements.

We invite all our clients and business partners to follow updates published on our website and social media channels, where we will regularly share the latest information regarding ISO 9001:2026, transition timelines, implementation guidance and upcoming training programmes.

ICS
